วันนี้ (26 ม.ค.) ผู้สื่อข่าวรายงานว่า เมื่อเวลาประมาณ 14.00 น. ได้เกิดเหตุกลุ่มคนเสื้อแดงได้ใช้อาวุธปืนยิงเข้าใส่กลุ่มผู้ชุมนุมกองทัพประชาชนโค่นระบอบทักษิณ (กปท.) ขณะที่ได้นำมวลชนไปรณรงค์ให้เลื่อนวันเลือกตั้ง ที่วัดศรีเอี่ยม บางนา ขณะทยอยเดินทางกลับ นายสุทิน ธราทิน ผู้ประสานงานกองทัพประชาชนฯ ซึ่งกำลังปราศรัยอยู่บนรถกระจายเสียงได้ถูกกระสุนปืนจากกลุ่มคนเสื้อแดงยิงเข้าที่ศีรษะได้รับบาดเจ็บสาหัส พร้อมกับมีผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บ 9 ราย ทั้งหมดได้ถูกนำตัวส่ง รพ.วิภารามฯ แต่เนื่องจากกระสุนถูกนายสุทินเข้าที่จุดสำคัญ และเสียชีวิตในเวลาต่อมา
รายงานข่าวแจ้งว่า กำลังเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจซึ่งดูแลความสงบเรียบร้อยบริเวณโดยรอบสถานที่จัดการเลือกตั้งล่วงหน้า บริเวณวัดศรีเอี่ยม ในพื้นที่รับผิดชอบของ สน.บางนา ไม่ได้ให้การช่วยเหลือกลุ่มผู้ชุมนุม กปท.ที่ติดค้างอยู่ภายใน อีกทั้งกลุ่มผู้ชุมนุมเองเกรงว่าจะเกิดความไม่ปลอดภัย เนื่องจากกลุ่มคนเสื้อแดงประมาณ 100 คน มีอาวุธปืน ยังคงปิดล้อมอยู่ภายนอก ทางแกนนำกลุ่มผู้ชุมนุมจึงต้องร้องขอให้ทหารเข้ามาช่วยเหลือดูแลด้านความปลอดภัยและนำมวลชนออกมาได้แล้ว
ศูนย์เอรารัณ กรุงเทพมหานคร ได้รับแจ้งว่า เกิดเหตุคนปะทะกันที่หน่วยเลือกตั้งเขตบางนา บริเวณวัดศรีเอี่ยม เมื่อเวลาประมาณ 15.00 น. เบื้องต้นได้รับข้อมูลว่ามีผู้บาดเจ็บ 9 คน และเสียชีวิต 1 คน รวม 10 คน แบ่งส่งโรงพยาบาลวิภารามจำนวน 8 คน ส่งโรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์จำนวน 1 คน และโรงพยาบาลบางนา 1 จำนวน 1 คน โดยมีรายงานจาก ผอ.รพ.วิภารามว่ามีผู้เสียชีวิต 1 คน

นายสุริยะใส กตะศิลา อดีตแกนนำพันมิตรฯ ผู้ประสานงานกลุ่มกรีน กล่าวว่า ได้โทรศัพท์สอบถามกับการ์ด กปท.ซึ่งอยู่ที่โรงพยาบาลวิภาราม ทราบว่า นายสุทิน ถูกยิงเสียชีวิตแล้ว ขณะเดียวกันมีทีมงานถูกยิงด้วยกระสุนปืนบาดเจ็บอีก 4 คน ขณะอยู่บนรถ 6 ล้อปราศรัย และจุดถูกยิงอยู่ห่างจากวัดศรีเอี่ยมไม่มากนัก ซึ่งขณะนั้นนายสุทินได้นำมวลชนไปรณรงค์คัดค้านการเลือกตั้งที่หน่วยเลือกตั้งภายในวัดศรีเอี่ยมจนเสร็จแล้ว จากนั้นจึงนำมวลชนนั่งรถยนต์พากันกลับออกมา ระหว่างทางเจอกลุ่มคนเสื้อแดงประมาณ 200 คนมาดักรออยู่ และระหว่างนายสุทินขึนพูดบนรถเครื่องขยายเสียง เพื่อขอให้มวลชนหลีกเลี่ยงการปะทะ ก็ถูกยิงด้วยอาวุธปืนเข้าที่ศีรษะและลำคอ ถูกนำตัวส่งรพ.วิภาราม ซึ่งแพทย์ได้ปั้มหัวใจ แต่สุดท้ายก็เสียชีวิต ซึ่งขณะเกิดเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าวตำรวจปฏิบัติหน้าที่อย่างหละหลวมและไม่ตรวจค้นกลุ่มคนเสื้อแดง ซึ่งมีอาวุธ นอกจากนี้น.ส.ยิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตร ไม่อาจปฏิเสธความรับผิดชอบได้ เพราะไม่ยอมให้เลื่อนการเลือกตั้ง ทั้งกกต.ต้องการให้เลื่อนเลือกตั้งออกไปก่อน โดยน.ส.ยิ่งลักษณ์เองก็สามารถคาดการณ์ได้ว่าจะเกิดเหตุรุนแรงขึ้น
นพ.รวี มาศฉมาดล กรรมการ กปปส.ที่อยู่ในเหตุการณ์ เล่าว่า หลังจากมวลชนเสร็จภารกิจที่หน่วยเลือกตั้งวัดศรีเอี่ยม กำลังจะกลับเพื่อแวะไปรับประทานอาหาร ขณะเคลื่อนที่ไปได้สัก 50 เมตร ก็ได้รับแจ้งว่ามีเสื้อแดงจำนวนหนึ่งพร้อมอาวุธอยู่ทางด้านขวาที่กำลังจะเคลื่อนไป จึงแจ้งนายสุทินให้ทราบและแจ้งให้รถของมวลชนอย่าเลี้่ยวขวาไปทางซอยอุดมสุข 17 เพราะมีกลุ่มคนเสื้อแดงดักรออยู่ โดยขอให้ขบวนรถเลี้ยวซ้ายเพื่อเลี่ยงการปะทะและแจ้งให้ทุกคนระวังตัว จากนั้นก็ได้ยินเสียงอาวุธปืนรัวหลายสิบนัด และตามด้วยเสียงระเบิด 1 ครั้ง ส่วนคนเจ็บถูกนำส่งโรงพยาบาลวิภารามและใกล้เคียง ต่อมาทราบว่านายสุทินที่ถูกยิงสาหัส ได้เสียชีวิตดังกล่าว พอเสียงปืนเงียบตนก็ได้พามวลชนส่วนหนึ่งไปหลบที่วัดศรีเอี่ยม โดยขณะนั้นมีตำรวจยืนสังเกตการณ์อยู่เฉยๆ ประมาณ 20-30 คน
